Class 04
Discipline and Correction
Multi-Lesson Series & Curriculum

In Hebrews 12:6, it says, "The Lord disciplines the one He loves, and chastens everyone He accepts as His son." Depending on how we were raised and disciplined by those in authority, our entire perspective and attitude towards correction can be completely toxic. Once we are born again, this old mindset must be renewed as soon as possible.

BKC’s Discipleship program kicks off with the class Discipline and Correction. We must establish a solid foundation of how to properly receive instruction and accept correction from God and the BKC Leadership. If we as Christians can't accept correction, then we will never fully mature as real disciples and walk as God intends us to.

A lot of times, we as humans cannot stand being corrected or receiving any discipline. Through the strategy of fear, this attitude is a sign of pride and stubbornness in our hearts. It takes true wisdom and humility to accept correction from others and God. If we learn to recognize this toxic mindset and humble ourselves, it will be worth it in the end.

In this class and curriculum, you will learn how to recognize and start to let go of old thoughts, mindsets, habits, and behaviors that don't line up with the Word of God. Including the importance of recognizing and revealing any hidden sin in your life, such as lust, sexual immorality, sins of unforgiveness, pride, and rebellion. All of these things play a part in your walk with God and can either hinder or help you as a real disciple. We will also discuss past hurts and offenses, regarding both church leadership and God. These need to be exposed so you can be healed and completely free. This will be an interactive class setting with questions and responses, meditation on the Word, and agreement and declaration of willful change and surrender. You will learn to be truly vulnerable, air out any "dirty laundry", and understand how to surrender to real change.
Discipline and correction are the start of a journey to maturing as a real disciple of Jesus Christ. As we go along in this process, you will be given the proper tools to learn how to embrace correction, as well as expose any hidden motives in your heart. It will be a difficult, but truly transformational process.
